ROCKINGHAM — Mr. Robert Talmage Johnson, 89, died on Monday, July 17, 2017 at the Hamlet House Assisted Living.

Born May 11, 1928 in Lumberton, he was a son of the late William and Cora Edwards Johnson.

Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and a Panama Canal conflict. He also worked in maintenance with the former Ray Magnet Wire in Laurinburg.

Robert is survived by sons, Ted Johnson (Betty) of Laurinburg; and Gary Johnson (Brenda) of Laurel Hill; daughter Regina Sears (Ernest) of Rockingham; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased in death by his wife of 56 years, Daisy Lee Johnson; grandson, Gary Johnson, Jr.; and several sisters.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18 at McDougald Funeral Home & Crematorium.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19 at Laurinburg Memorial Park officiated by the Rev. Steve Adams and Rev. Rick Hodges.
