LAURINBURG — Ruby Catherine Polston Spry, 92, of Laurinburg went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017.

Ruby was born on November 10, 1925 in Scotland County, a loving daughter of the late Marvin Polston and Ethel Lee Steven Walters. She retired after many years of service with Pilkington, formerly L.O.F. Glass Company and was a member of Cross Point Church, formerly East Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She loved serving in her church, fishing, cooking, singing and traveling. Ruby was a people person and enjoyed entertaining with others. Her favorite times were those special moments spent with her family. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will always be remembered for her loving spirit and will forever be missed.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James F. Spry; brothers, Marvin Polston, Jerry K. Polston; sisters, Lois Morgan and Grace Pender.

She leaves behind her children, sons, James Spry (Marilyn) of Hamlet; Carl Spry (Sandy) of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Ronnie Spry (Terry) of Charleston, S.C.; Timothy Spry of Marston; a brother, Curtis Polston (Shirley) of Bennettsville, S.C.; sisters, Mildred Greene and Sylvia Polston, both of Laurinburg; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 18 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Mike Edds and Rev. Mike Price.

A time of visitation will be prior to the service from 1 until 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 18. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial donations are requested to be given Scotland County Veterans, American Cancer Association and to Cross Pointe Church.

Services are entrusted to Richard Boles Funeral Service.
