ROCKINGHAM — Ruby "Christine" Adkins Thorton, age 85 of Rockingham passed away at her home on June 30, 2015.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Hillside Memorial Park.

Christine was born July 7, 1929 in Anson County, a daughter of the late William Henry Roller and Maude Rainwater Roller. She was the loving wife to the late Fred Adkins Sr., and then her second husband, the late Boyd W. Thorton. She was a homemaker that dedicated her life to the love and care of her family. She served as a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Rockingham. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, being a member of the Super Chicks Club and the Senior Travelers Club. Her favorite time was that spent with family, especially her grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Edward Roller and William Roller.

Surviving are her children, sons, Joe "Fred" Adkins, Jr. and wife Linda, Jimmy Dean Adkins and wife Deborah, Terry Dale Adkins and wife Carol all of Laurinburg; her daughters, Shirley Jean Teal and husband William of Norman, Judy Anne Lawson and husband Fred of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; sisters Jeanette Clark of Rockingham, Sarah Elam of Snyder, Texas; grandchildren, Joey Adkins, Tilisa Adkins, Jimmy Keith Adkins, Jamie Adkins, Shane Lawson, Angela Lawson, Jason Adkins and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
