MAXTON — Mrs. Sandra Jean Gilbert Graves, 74, of Maxton, passed away on Friday, Feb. 24, 2017.

Sandra was born January 22, 1943 in Robeson County, daughter of the late Loamie Mercer Gilbert, Jr. and Corrine Gurkin Gilbert.

She was married many years to the late James Dwight Graves. Sandra graduated from Maxton High School and then attended the University of North Carolina. She graduated from the University of the North Carolina School of Pharmacy and worked many years at Austin-Gilbert Drug Company in Maxton. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Sandra was a wonderful servant of her church and community. Most of all, she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and friend.

Mrs. Graves is survived by her son, Gary Graves of Darlington, S.C.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 27 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Maxton officiated by the Rev. Sylvia Ball. Burial will follow the services at Oak Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at 3 p.m. prior to the service on Monday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

Memorial donations are requested to be given in her memory to the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 106 West Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Drive, Maxton, NC 28364.
