FORT WORTH, Texas — Mrs. Sandra Faye "Sandy" Woodard-Simon, 58, formerly of Laurel Hill, passed away on May 9, 2014.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Peele's Chapel Wesleyan Church in Laurel Hill officiated by the Rev. J.W. Williams. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Golden Gate Funeral Home and burial followed that service at the National Cemetery in Fort Worth.

Born on Feb. 5, 1956 in Hamlet, she was the only daughter to Dorothy Norton Woodard and the late Earl Woodard. She graduated from Scotland High School and later received certificates in nursing tech and early child care development from Richmond Community College. Sandy was a very loving and kind person who never met a stranger. She loved to shop, plan events and holiday parties, and was a good cook. Her two daughters were her world, and she loved them very dearly, being very involved in their lives and school. She also loved her three nieces who affectionately called her "Nandi".

She was preceded in death by her father Earl Woodard.

She is survived by her husband Donnell Simon of the home, two daughters: Kaitlyn and Khloe Simon of the home, her mother Dorothy Norton Woodard of Laurel Hill, brothers Michael Woodard and wife Teresa, Jerry Woodard, Greg Woodard, and Kenny Ray Woodard, three special nieces: Shandi Woodard, Jennifer Woodard Wilkes, and Paige Woodard Quick, and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
