GIBSON — Terry M. Benfield, 70, passed away on Aug. 21, 2015 at the Fayetteville Veterans Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by the Rev. Richard Tyson. Burial with military honors will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery.

Terry was a son of the late George and Viola Davis Benfield born on April 8, 1945 in Clovis, New Mexico. He was a disabled Vietnam War veteran who proudly served with the United States Army. He was the owner and operator of Benfield Cams & Go Carts.

He was a talented mechanic who enjoyed manufacturing motor parts and he especially enjoyed racing and traveling with the Go Cart Community. He also enjoyed cooking and playing his piano. Terry was a devoted family man who cherished his time spent with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Teresa Gail Benfield Blackwell.

Terry is survived by his sons Eric "Scott" Benfield of Gibson and Jamie Paul Benfield (Heather) of Bradenton, Florida, his daughter Brandi Benfield of Whispering Pines, brother Mark Benfield (Sandy) of Hamlet, sister Debby Hudson (Bobby) of Mooresville, brother-in-law Harry Blackwell of Gibson, 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be given in Mr. Benfield's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project in your area.
