LAURINBURG — Barry Herman Deaton, age 60 of Laurinburg passed away July 2, 2014.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Bunker Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Kernersville. The family will receive friends following the service. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Hillside Memorial Park.
Barry was born May 22, 1954 in Richmond County, loving son of Lillie Evadean Biggs Deaton and the late Mamon Herman Deaton, Jr. He was a 1972 graduate from Scotland High School and 1975 graduate of Hardbarger Business College. After returning to Laurinburg he joined the family businesses of Herman's Tire Company and North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles, retiring after many years of service. Barry served as a faithful member of the Bunker Hill Primitive Baptist Church where he truly loved his church and the church family. He enjoyed the game of golf and was an avid sports fan.
In addition to his father, he was also predeceased by a brother, Mark Dean Deaton.
Barry is survived by his mother, Evadean Biggs Deaton of the home; his daughter, Rebecca Marie Deaton Galardo and her husband Tony of Georgia; son, Mark Herman Deaton of Florida and one grandchild.
