SEBRING, Fla. — Max "Preston" Russell, Sr., 79, formerly of Laurinburg, passed away at his home on Aug. 17, 2014.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Springhill Cemetery.
He was born in Scotland County on Aug. 20, 1934 to William Henry Russell and Lida Cole Russell. In 1953, he married Jeannette Jackson and they had four children. He was a self employed truck driver in Laurinburg retiring after many years of service. He then enjoyed working in the salvage business and his retirement living in Florida. He loved traveling, especially going on his annual trips to Las Vegas.
He is survived by his son Max P. Russell, Jr. (Karlene) of Sebring, daughters Teresa R. Wensil (Carl) of Red Springs, Mary E. Quick (Gene) of Homestead, Fla., Leona Pruey of Raeford, their mother Jeanette Hallman of Raeford, seven grandchildren: Max P. Russell, III, Tom Connors, Rudy Russell, Loretta Quick, Buddy Quick, Angela Russell, and Carla Wensil, four great-grandchildren: Jaylin Russell, Scarlett Connors, Leroy Quick, LeAnn Quick, and his sister Ruth R. McMinis (Benny) of Raleigh.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
