Henry Samuel Epstein
Henry Samuel Epstein, of Long Beach, California, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Born in Marlboro, Massachusetts, August 27, 1921, to Daniel and Lillian Epstein, Henry was most proud of his 53-year marriage to Huguette (nee Clermont), who preceded him in death. Henry is survived by his son, Henry and his wife, Gabi and their son Patrick; his son, William and his wife Robyn and their son Alex; his sister, Janet Beaubien and her husband, Al; his nephews and nieces, Alan, Jamie, Lori, Alison and Peter. Henry fought in World War II, was honorably discharged in 1948 and received the Purple Heart. He elected to stay in Europe and worked at Stars & Stripes until his retirement in 1983. If you spent five minutes with Henry, then you never forgot him. His stories of post-war Europe and his travels could captivate even the worldliest person. I'm thinking about Henry and Huguette and in my mind I clearly hear the sounds of their voices. I'm missing them and wishing I had better stayed in touch. I'd like to know how I could get in touch with William and Henry.

How strange it is for me to think about Henry after so many years...only to find out he just past away. We met in 1953 in La Rochelle, France. Yes, he was an unforgetable person.
