Ashton, Nadene J. (Finch)  
Nadene J. (Finch) Ashton Nadene J. (Finch) Ashton, long time Lakewood resident, passed away on June 20, 2016. Born in Long Beach on June 27, 1931, daughter of Fred and Gertrude Finch, she grew up in Seal Beach, CA. She was cherished by her 6 brothers who all predeceased her. Nadene was married for 63 years to her devoted husband Chuck whom she met while he was in port in Long Beach serving in the U.S. Navy. She is survived by her two children, Mark (Carla) of Lakewood and Gail Wegner (Harold) of Laguna Hills. She cherished her grandchildren, Stacey (Chris), Brody, Michelle, Corey (Erica), Karly and Kacey. There are no words to express her pride for her great granddaughter and birthday buddy Ashley. There will be an open house to celebrate her great life at their Lakewood home on Saturday, July 2nd from 11-2. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Nadene Ashton Memorial Fund c/o Pacific Premier Bank. Fisher, Stephen  
Stephen Thomas Fisher Born in San Pedro September 15, 1942, died May 6, 2016 in Bellflower. A graduate of San Pedro High School, class of 1960, attended Waldorf Lutheran College in Forest City, Iowa. Steve served in the United States Army in Germany. He worked for over thirty years for McDonald Douglas/Boeing. He was active in Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Long Beach and St. Andrew's Episcopal in Thousand Oaks. He was a long time member of Toastmasters International, Nicotine Anonymous, and the Hearing Loss Association. He was an avid photographer, fisherman and bridge player. He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Ruth Fisher of San Pedro and his wife Linda Dodge Fisher. He is survived by his brother, Scott (Farah) of Signal Hill and his sister, Jane Murphy (Kim) of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, his niece, Kristie Biglin, and nephews: Allen, Christopher and William Fisher and Jonathan Koury. A Celebration of Life will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 370 Junipero, Long Beach, CA on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 2pm. Rawls, Jackie  
Jacqueline "Jackie" Marie Rawls Jackie Rawls (née Powell), 90, died on June 18, 2016 in Anaheim, CA after ten difficult years with Alzheimer's. Born March 4, 1926 in Colorado, she spent most of her adult life in Wilmington, CA. With her husband of 39 years, Lloyd O. Rawls, she raised a son and daughter, while working as head merchant teller for Security Pacific National Bank, Wilmington branch. She retired in 1981. She lived the last two years in a Memory Care Home in Anaheim, CA. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Edmond D. and Myrtle M. Powell, husband, Lloyd Rawls, sister Gloria Mae (Ernie) Everhart, and brother, Gary Powell. She is survived by her son, Randy (Jeanine) Rawls of Cerritos, CA; daughter, Patty (Keith) Reneau of Santa Ana, CA, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Irene Martin of Oceanside, CA, Francine Powell of San Pedro, CA, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass, Friday, July 1, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 515 W. Opp St., Wilmington, CA 90744 followed by interment at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 Western Ave. Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. A reception will follow. Marko, Carl  
Carl John Marko January 13, 1931 ~ February 23, 2016 Carl John Marko, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Apple Valley on February 23, 2016. Carl, the youngest of two boys, was born January 13, 1931 and raised in Los Angeles by George Marko and Esther Kamerling. Carl had a passion for writing and decided to attend Los Angeles State College, and major in journalism. He worked on the school newspaper, and later became the sports editor of the College Times. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in journalism, he elected to stay an additional year and earn his teaching credential. Shortly thereafter, he began teaching English and journalism at Washington Junior High School. A few years later, he received a special honor for being the "Most Inspirational Teacher". In 1968, Carl was transferred to Hill Junior High School, and was responsible for the accelerated English program, Chairman of the English department, advisor for the school newspaper, advisor for the student government class, and chief editor of the yearbook for many years. He received recognition from the California State Senate for all of his work with the youth. In 1988, Carl lost his wife, Sandy, to heart disease. The following year, he decided to retire from teaching and received a wonderful plaque from his students from Period 1 stating "English will never be the same without you". This gift meant so much to him, and he treasured it for the rest of his life. In 1990, Carl found new happiness and married Margaret Stephenson. Carl and Margaret were made for each other, and spent 26 wonderful years traveling the globe together. Carl loved to seek out the raw beauty in nature and photograph it. He later combined his passion for words with his keen eye for picturesque landscapes and published his book "Impressions" filled with poetry, short stories and photographs. He submitted several poems and received the "Editor's Choice Award for Poetry" three times, and was also recognized by "Who's Who Among Poetry", "Published Poet-International Library" and the "Published Poet-Noble House" societies. Carl was a loving, caring soul and had a profound impact on everyone he met. He always put other people's needs ahead of his own, and lived his life to help others. He was a very special person, and will be missed. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his son, Alex Marko; and his step daughters, Debra Willis and Beth Kahkosko. Bobbie Lee "Bob" Sutton Bobbie Lee "Bob" Sutton died peacefully in his sleep at his home June 5, 2016 - age 88 years. He was born in Fayetteville, AR on Aug 18, 1927 and moved with his family to CA in 1942. He lived in Long Beach the rest of his life. His wife, Beverly, died in 1995. He leaves his sister, Peggy Devers, 2 nephews Paul Devers and Patrick Devers, a niece Janice Devers, and sister-in-law Bernie Loder. He was active in many organizations in CA and the US. Frank Paul Ashby (Paul to his friends and family) passed peacefully from this life the morning of June 15, 2016. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family during the last several weeks of his life. Paul was born in Detroit, MI on October 29, 1943, and moved to Long Beach, CA at about age 12. He and his wife, Judy were married in 1967 and moved to Huntington Beach, CA in 1969, where Paul lived the remainder of his life. Paul is survived by his wife Judy, his son Scott, and his extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 12:30pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6531 W. McFadden Ave, Huntington Beach, CA 92647. Anna Marie Jimenez-MacPherson Anna Marie Jimenez-MacPherson passed away on June 20, 2016 at the age of 67. She was born on October 4, 1948 and was a longtime resident of Rossmoor, California and is survived by her children, DeAnna (Ryan) Breen, Andres (ChengYe) Fujiwara and 3 grandchildren. Miller, James  
James Edward Miller Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grand father, James Edward Miller, 85, passed away on Tuesday June 21, 2016. "Jim" was born in Canton, OH on February 3, 1931 to Raphael and Dorothea Miller. Jim and his twin brother John were the youngest of 5 boys. Jim was called to serve his country during the Korean War in 1951. In 1953, after his service, Jim moved to Long Beach, California where he started his career in law enforcement and met his wife of 58 years, Jacquelyn A. Kelly. Jim and Jacquelyn welcomed their first son, James P. Miller in 1959, followed by their second son, Joseph E. Miller in 1961. Jim served with the Long Beach Police Department for 35 years, where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant. One of Jim's proudest moments was when his 2 sons joined him at the Long Beach Police Department in 1987. Jim was a people person who loved his job so much that in his 35-year career he never used a sick day. Some of his favorite assignments were in the narcotics, intelligence, and investigative units. After an accomplished career, Jim retired in 1991. After his retirement, Jim enjoyed vacationing with his family, golfing and Alaskan fishing with his twin brother, John and his 2 sons. Jim relocated to Idaho in 2009 to spend more time with his family. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Jacquelyn; twin brother John (Novelle) Miller of Long Beach, CA; son Jim (LaRee) Miller; son Joe (Kris) Miller. Jim leaves behind 4 grandchildren: Jessica (Jonnie) Carlyle, Joe (Brianna) Miller, Mike (Mackenzie) Miller, and Michelle Shrader. Jim also leaves behind 1 great-grandchild, Oliver Carlyle. Jim is preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Donald, Robert and Raphael Miller of Canton, Ohio. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Touchmark Meadowlake for the care they provided Jim over the past several years. A memorial viewing will take place on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Summer's Funeral Home 3629 E. Ustick Rd. Meridian, ID. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 9:00 AM at Summer's Funeral Home, Meridian. Wittey, Robert  
Robert A. and Sherril Umbarger Wittey Robert was born on May 19, 1930 and passed away November 9, 2014 of complications from dementia. He was predeceased by his son, Robbie Wittey and survived by his daughters, Deb Wittey Holman and Linda Brown; stepson, Scott Smith (Evette); grandson, Robbie Wittey, Jr. and step-grandchildren, Darren & Mallory Smith. Sherril was born on November 5, 1937 and passed away April 21, 2016 due to complications from Myelodysplastic Syndrome. She was predeceased by parents, Harold & Clara Umbarger and husband, Robert Wittey. She is survived by brother, Jerry Umbarger (Kathy), son, Scott Smith (Evette); Grandchildren, Darren and Mallory Smith; niece, Melissa Umbarger Hawkins and family; and nephew, Matt Umbarger.
