Burbage, Gretchen  
Gretchen Burbage Margaret ("Gretchen") Burbage (Scholl) was born on June 23rd, 1937, in Stoneham, Mass., to Capt. Henry Scholl (USCG) and Margaret Grainger. She attended Rogers Jr. and Wilson High (LB) & Roosevelt High in Oahu, Hawaii. She attended the University of Maryland where her Kappa Alpha Theta Sisters became lifelong friends. Her children were born in Charleston, S. Carolina and in 1964 she moved to Calif. where she lived the rest of her life. Gretchen was an Exec. Secretary for Coast Community College for over 20 years, before retiring and moving to Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert, Calif., with her husband, Paul Burbage, who predeceased her in 2009. Gretchen loved golf and was very involved with the MCC Women's Club. She was elated to get a hole-in-one at MCC in 2004. She loved, Monday Night Football, Poker, Happy hour wth friends, the Republican Women's Federation, her Church & Bible Study. She loved animals, never living without a cat or dog. She was warm, loving, patriotic, loyal, genuine, simple yet elegant. She was known for her SMILE and inner and outer beauty. We lost her after a heartbreaking battle with lung Cancer on April 14, 2016. She leaves son, Douglas Sauerbrei (Kimberley), daughter, Margaret Malouf (Ron), loving step-children and extended family, and her beloved cat, Monty. A celebration of her life will be held on May 13, 2016 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at The Long Beach Yacht Club.
