Lupu, Betty Eloise
Betty Eloise Lupu was the only child born in Columbia, Mississippi to George Recie Butler on March 27, 1925. In 1928 the family left Prentiss, Mississippi to live in Monrovia, California to join other family members seeking work and better opportunities available in the pacific regions. Later moving to Pasadena, Eloise attended McKinley Junior High School and later graduated from Pasadena Junior College, West Campus (now known as John Muir High School).
Raised in the Baptist Church, Eloise attended Metropolitan Baptist Church in Pasadena, California during her formative years. In 1955, she decided to become an Episcopalian and was confirmed at St. James Episcopal Church under the tutelage of Father H. Randolph Moore. Always seeking greater spiritual fulfillment, Eloise later joined Ascension Lutheran Church and remained a dedicated member until her parting.
After graduation from high school, Eloise worked for the United States Postal Service and proved to be a steadfast, loyal employee as she was constantly promoted. Always progressive, Eloise left the USPS and began working at Lockheed Aircraft Corporation from where she retired in 1986 after 41 years of dedicated service.
Eloise was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Roy. To cherish her memory she leaves her daughter Kristina, son-in-law DeWalt; son Gregory; grandchildren Nancy, Marlena, Brandon, Blair and Chelsea; godson Gregory Hawkins; cherished cousin Macie Dorrough as well as a host of family and friends.
