In the afternoon of Dec 11, 2013 Blas Alvarran passed away peacefully at the home of his grandson John and his wife Kari. He was born on Feb. 3, 1921. A long time resident of Chino who after retirement could be seen walking around the town for hours at a time. He worked hard his entire life, starting as a young boy to help his family, and quickly became a man as he served in the army in World War II. After he returned, he married Julia Ruiz and they began their family, having just two children a son John and daughter Julie (she preceded both of them in death). Blas had a large extended family but focused most of his attention to his eldest three grandchildren whom he helped raise, Regina, John and Gus Alvarran. Services will be at Draper's Mortuary, Wednesday evening at 6pm for a Rosary and Thursday at 10am, service followed to Holy Cross.
