Dorothy Harris Starkweather

Starkweather, Dorothy Harris
Dorothy Harris Starkweather, 'Dottie', passed away peacefully March 6, 2013. Born to Elwin M. Harris and Winifred Mason, Dottie and her twin brother Marsh were born on Apr. 16, 1921, in Pasadena, Ca. She loved the fact that she was a Pasadena native.
Dottie went through the Pasadena school system attending Madison, Eliot and PJC, where she graduated uppper division.
She met the love of her life Richard (pre-deceased) in 1941, but because he was shipped overseas, they didn't wed until 1945. They had two children, Mike (Janelle), grandsons Eric (Mark), Chris (Shannon), great granddaughter Katie and Melinda, her dogs Indy (Grams little champ) and Jack. She also leaves behind her twin brother Marsh (Louise), ex 'sister'-in-law Maddie, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides working at Altadena Elementary School, doing a variety of jobs, for 22 years and Weight Watchers for 30 years, Dottie loved working in her garden, exercising, swimming in her pool, but most of all she loved having lunch with friends. She also volunteered at the Huntington Collection and the Pasadena Playhouse.
If you were a friend of Dottie's, you were a friend for life.
It was with the love, compassion and caring from family, friends caregivers and hospice that Dottie had such a nice long life.
In liew of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, social services or the Convalescent Aid Society.
