Elizabeth Marie ("Zim") Bellinder, age 95, passed away in San Bernardino, California on Tuesday, January 22, 2013.
Elizabeth was born January 10, 1918, in Kahler, Russia, to Andrew and Anna Bellinder. She had six siblings, Adam, Katie, Sophie, Angie, Marie, and Joseph, all of whom preceded her in death. At age five, Elizabeth's family emigrated from Russia to Wamego, KS having been sponsored by an uncle who had previously established residency in the United States.
During World War II, Elizabeth joined the Red Cross Nursing Program and became a Certified Medical Assistant, a career she held for over 40 years. In 1963, she won the Medical Assistant of the Year Award for San Bernardino County. Elizabeth was an avid letter writer and loved to make daily light-hearted and humorous notes on her calendar of special things that had occurred. These notes are now treasured testaments to a life well-lived.
Elizabeth will best be remembered for her independent spirit, compassionate heart, quick wit, and most especially her devotion to her Catholic faith which was unwavering. For the countless prayers that Elizabeth made for her family and friends, it is now up to us to return the favor.
Services will be held at St. Bernardine's Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 29th. Rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held in private. Relatives and friends are welcome at the service and a reception in the Church Hall immediately following.
