Georgette M. DeMASI
June 6, 1921 ~ January 5, 2014
Claremont resident Georgette Marie DeMasi (nee Vinette) was born in St. Charles, Ontario, Canada on June 6, 1921. One of thirteen children born to Frederick and Yvonne Vinette, the family fulfilled their ambition of moving to the United States, settling in upstate New York. As a young woman, Georgette would help her parents with the everyday tasks of owning and operating a boarding house, in addition to working at the Niagara Wallpaper Factory in Niagara Falls, N.Y.
In 1946 Georgette was introduced to the man who would become the love of her life, Frank William DeMasi. Frank and Georgette were married in 1947. They raised two talented and sucessful children, their daughter Yvonne Marie Crosby and their son Gerald Frank DeMasi. Tiring of the cold winters, in 1954 they moved to southern California, where they remained. Sadly, Frank preceded Georgette in 2000.
A devout Catholic, Georgette was a past member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Altar Society, the Claremont Women's Club and the Italian Catholic Federation at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. In addition, as a former member of the Southern California Polka Booster Club, Georgette could always be found with a wide smile when dancing to the polka beat in the arms of her beloved hubby. She also enjoyed traveling to polka festivals throughout the United States.
Georgette is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Marie, Redding, CA and her son, Gerald Frank, Yorba Linda, CA.
