Gilbert Ayala
Passed away peacefully from complications of pneumonia at the age of 81 on December 10, 2013. He was at his home in San Bernardino, CA with his wife and family at his side. Gilbert was born in San Bernardino on January 28, 1932. He was an Oakland, CA 1950 graduate and retired from his self-made construction company of Gilbert Ayala & Sons after 50 years in the construction field. Gilbert enjoyed traveling, sports, and spending time at Lake Havasu. He was a devout family man who was willing to listen to others and provide advice. His life will be remembered as always having time to spend with his family and friends. Gilbert is preceded in death by son David (Goosey) and grandson Tony. Gilbert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jennie Ayala; sons: Robert and his wife Sheila, Anthony and his wife Elsa, Buck and his wife Leilani, Zig and his fiance Amber; daughter Bo and her husband Darin; daughter-in-law Kris; 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild . Memorial will be Sunday at Mountain View Mortuary 570 E. Highland Avenue, San Bernardino from 5-7 p.m. Service will be Monday at Holy Rosary Church 2620 N. Arrowhead Avenue, San Bernardino at 10 a.m. A celebration of life will immediately follow at Eagles Hall 895 E. 9th Street, San Bernardino.
