Harry Elmer Danner, 85, affectionately known as Danny passed away at his home on January 1, 2014. Harry had been a resident of Long Beach for over 55 years. Harry was born in 1928 to Frederick and Harriett Danner in Tarentum, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his twin sister, Helen Dorsey of Providence, Rhode Island; three sons: Daniel (Phin) Danner and his wife, Cathy of Anaheim Hills; Phillip Danner and his wife, Leesa of Fair Oaks and Mark Tobey of Bonsall. Harry also leaves behind 6 grandchildren: Shane Danner, Sarah Danner, Stephanie Danner, Joanna Tutwiler, Torie Tobey, Dana Tobey and one great granddaughter, Adalyn Jade Tutwiler. Harry is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Willa; brother, Phineas Danner; sisters, Anne Charlotte Collins and Olive Dempsey. Harry graduated from Huntington Park High School in 1948. In 1950, he married Janet Doyle. That marriage ended in divorce. Then in 1965 he married Willa Tobey. Harry served in the United States Navy at the end of WWII. Harry made his career as a plasterer and was a member of the Plasters Union, from which he retired. Harry was a Third Degree Mason, a member of the American Legion and the Elks Club. In his later years he volunteered for the Meals on Wheels Program. Danny was a tenacious individual who enjoyed life to the fullest. He and his wife Willa are famous for their dinner parties. This was a tradition he carried on, right up to the end of his life. His hearty laugh, happy nature and generous spirit enamored everyone around him. Danny will be immensely missed.
