Joseph G. Powers
84, of Sun Lakes and Big Bear City passed away Dec. 8th, 2013.
Joseph was born in Crystal City, Missouri on November 12, 1929. He attended San Francisco State University and then went on to earn his masters degree from Troy State University in Alabama. He served for 30 years in the USAF and flew over 192 missions in the F4 Phantom during the Vietnam War. Later on he became the station commander in Taipei, Taiwan and the base commander in Tainan, Taiwan. He retired from the Air Force with the rank of full Colonel in 1977. Joseph then pursued a career in commercial real estate. The Powers had lived in Highland Ca. for 36 years and moved to Sun Lakes in 2009.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years , Judy Powers; his two sons, Steve Powers of Atlanta Ga., and Bill Powers and his wife Beth of Jacksonville Florida.; Daughter Laura Powers Tonsits and her husband Pete of Colorado Springs, Co.; Brother David Powers and his wife Rhoma of Bellevue, Michigan; sister Beverly Bueker and her husband Dick of Kansas City, Missouri; 11 Grand Children; and 1 Great Grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church 225 E 8th St, Beaumont, CA 92223

Graveside Service and Burial will be held at Riverside National Cemetery 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA 92518 Friday, December 27, 2013 9:30 am
