Keith Roderick Carey Sr. was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on May 16, 1920. He passed away on August 25, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Raised in Long Beach, Keith was Wilson High School senior class president, where he played football for the legendary Al Johnson and enjoyed the brotherhood of Comus Club, graduating in 1939. Keith attended the University of California Berkley where he relished his membership in Sigma Nu fraternity and studied accounting. Academics were interrupted by WWII, when he was sent to the Burma, India, China theater proudly serving in the U.S. Army Signal Intelligence Service. Upon returning to Cal, he met the love of his life, Marilyn Rea Griffin. Keith graduated in 1947, and stayed in Northern California residing in Oakland. His CPA practice and teaching led Keith and Marilyn to Visalia, then "home" to Long Beach, where his passion for bodysurfing began. Keith was a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the California Society of CPAs, and the Estate Planning & Trust Council. He served as the President of Signal Hill Rotary Club and later joined the Newport/Balboa and Long Beach clubs. He is survived by his children Rod (Carolyn), Bruce (Debra), Virginia and grandchildren Scott, Marilyn, Paul, Britt and Summer. His wife of 34 years, Marilyn predeceased him in 1984. The service was private and held at Forest Lawn in Long Beach. Keith and Marilyn were interred together in the presence of his family and caregivers. Please sign the guestbook
