(Tread) Treadwell, Sr.

Malcom L. Treadwell, Sr. passed away on December 31, 2012, at the age of 78. He was born on February 16, 1934, in Tomahawk, North Carolina. Malcom is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Marie; son Ronald; grandchildren Jocelyn and Jadalyn; great-grandchildren Chace and Channing; and a host of other family members. In October of 1955 Malcom was stationed at the Long Beach Naval Station and served his country for 36 years (32 years as a reservist). Malcom also worked for the City of Long Beach and Port of Long Beach for 34 years until his retirement in 1991. Malcom was active in the community serving as Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts Troop 110, Long Beach area council for 25 years; Honorary Life member and chairman of the Garfield Elementary School PTA; Life member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP); lifetime member of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW); and Head Usher at Westside Baptist Church. Viewing will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013, from 4-7pm at Belmont Heights Funeral Center, 3501 East 7th Street, Long Beach 90804. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013, 11am, at Westside Baptist Church, 1490 West 23rd Street, Long Beach 90810.
