Patrick Francis Flanagan, 57, passed away September 28, 2013 with family and close friends by his side after a courageous battle against inoperable brain cancer.
Pat was born July 24, 1956 in Fontana, CA to Luba (Cherymisin) Flanagan and Robert T. Flanagan. He grew up in San Bernardino, was a longtime resident of Lincoln, MO and most recently resided in La Quinta, CA. Pat was graduated from Colton High School in 1974. He was active in local van clubs. Interested in all things automotive, he made his career driving big rig trucks. He worked for B&G Equipment Rental, Haley Brothers and Ford Wholesale in the San Bernardino area. For the last twelve years of his career he drove nationally for Ashley Furniture out of Kansas City, MO.
Pat enjoyed water sports and was an avid fisherman. Deep sea fishing along the southern California coast was his favorite pastime. A talented artist, Pat's glass etchings were highly praised as were the caricature model airplanes he crafted out of aluminum beverage cans. For many years Pat made a wonderful Santa Claus to the delight of neighborhood children.
With family and friends in attendance, dolphins playing nearby and birds flying in formation across a clear blue sky, his ashes were scattered at sea off Newport Harbor. A celebration of his life followed.
Pat will be remembered by his wife Christina, sisters Carol Drummond Peterson and Mary Flanagan, nieces Alexis Barry and Carol Barry, grandnephew Jacob, brother-in-law Robert Peterson and dear friends Sandy and Mike Bennett, Gene Villarreal, Warren Barry, Wendell Smith, Charlyn Sabo, Sue Stevens, Nancy Hodges, Ed Kessell and Danny Harder.
As Pat loved making children happy, donations may be made in his name to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
