Rosann Abel

ROSANN HARRIET ABEL

Passed away on January 9, 2014 at the age of 86. A beautiful, kind, loving, generous and remarkable woman; Rosann was dearly loved by her family, long-time companion and friends.

Rosann was a first-generation Southern Californian, who was born and grew up in Los Angeles. She lived in the San Fernando Valley for almost 60-years. She attended and graduated from Dorsey High School. In 1977, she remarried and was later widowed from her beloved husband, Joseph Abel of 25 years.

Rosann is survived by her children, Louis (Carole) Koven, Barry Koven, Sheri (Ken) Mandell, and David (Anne) Abel; and by her sister, Theda Duncan. Rosann has seven grandchildren, Steven, Marc, Rachael, Amber, Malissa, Pearl and Robert. She also had three great grandchildren, Summer, Savanna and the youngest, Phoenix.

Rosann retired from Lockheed Aircraft Corporation after a successful 30-year career. She helped pioneer women in the workplace, and was promoted into management. After retiring, Rosann enjoyed travel, hiking, biking, skiing and later volunteered at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Burbank. She was a regular there for many years at her exercise class, where she met her long-time companion, John Payne, during these workouts. She believed in donating regularly to worthy charities.

Memorial services will be held at the Valley Funeral Home, 2121 West Burbank Blvd., Burbank, CA 91506 on Sunday, January 19, 2014, 10:00 a.m. Donations on behalf of Rosann Abel to the in lieu of flowers are appreciated.
