William Henry "Bill" Wetzel

WETZEL, William "Bill" Henry
Bill passed away on November 15, 2013. Bill was born on July 10, 1939 in Riverside California. He married Betty Wetzel in March of 1959 and served in the Navy for 6 years, 3 of which was stationed in Taiwan. He was very involved with Scouting and when growing up in Wilmington, CA he became a Boy Scout. When his sons were old enough he became a Scout Leader. He was a Cub Scout Leader, Assistant Boy Scout Leader, and eventually became a Boy Scout Leader and joined Order of the Arrow. During this time he also became involved in Girl Scouting with his daughter and helped on Cookie Sales and camping/hiking trips. Later when one of his grandsons became a Cub Scout, he again answered the call and started helping out at events. Bill eventually became the Cub Master and the Camporee Chairman for the Rio Hondo District where he was asked to lead the BSA Centenoree, Celebrating 100 Years of Scouting. He has received the Silver Beaver, the Religious Award and many others for his service to Scouting. He has touched the lives of many youth and adults and was a great role model. Bill was a great husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Betty Wetzel, his daughters Virginia Wetzel and Jeanette Martin his sons, Dale Wetzel and James Wetzel as well as 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
