Bessie Margaret Ingram

August 15, 1910 - January 8, 2014

Bessie died peacefully in her sleep on January 8 - she was 103 years old. She was born the oldest of ten children and raised in Pensacola, Florida where she met her husband, Ruben L. Ingram. They were married nearly 50 years. With Ruben in the Navy, the family travelled extensively from base to base for many years, but settled in Long Beach in 1935 where Bess became a teacher for Long Beach City College in the Child Development Program and Sunday School Supervisor for the old Navy Family Chapel and All Saints Episcopal Church. She taught parents and young children for more than 30 years before retiring in 1973. When Ruben retired in 1975 from CSULB police force, they returned to Florida to live near Bess' brothers. In 1989 Bess returned to live with her son in Laguna Niguel. She is survived by son, Ruben; her sister, Carolyn; two grandchildren, Jan and Bill; five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Her ashes will be interned at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola. Please sign the guestbook at www.press telegram.com/obits.
