Dick was extremely proud of family and is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Sharon Ruth Gresswell; along with four children; Julia (John) Carkin of Riverside, California, Kristine Gresswell, Charles Gresswell IV and Jennifer (Thai) Gresswell-Sybounheuan all of San Diego, California and one granddaughter, Kelsey. In 1956, at 15 years old, Dick began a long career in the grocery industry with Vons. Over the course of the next 48 years, he held positions ranging from the clerk at the store level to human resources at the main office, culminating his career as the Director of Loss Prevention in August, 2004.
Dick loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying duck hunting most of all and was a member of: Ducks Unltd, National Rifle Association, SoCal Grocers Association, El Monte Boys' Club, ASIF Int'l, and SoCal Robbery Association. He was also an accomplished fabricator competently working with both metal and wood to include welding, ammunition reloading, and intricate lathe work in his very well apportioned shop. Sharon and Dick's children would like to thank a dear family friend, Geiselia, who provided outstanding in-home care for Dick over the past 9 months. Without question, she is an angel sent from the Lord whose love and care was a Heavenly blessing.
