Daniel Crespo Obituary
He was a deputy probation officer who, according to the Bell Gardens city Web site, worked for the past five years in adult supervision, the gang unit, narcotics and most recently as an adult investigator. The city's mayoral position is rotated among members of the City Council.
Los Angeles County CEO Bill Fujioka posted on his Twitter account that Crespo was a "longtime L.A. County employee, 21+ years on the job with our probation department."
Crespo was elected to the City Council in 2001.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Crespo and his wife had a son and a daughter, who was born in 1987, according to the city.
Crespo had a degree in psychology and family counseling from East Los Angeles College and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and public administration from Cal State Los Angeles. He was working on a master's degree in public administration, according to a biography on the city's Web site.

I don't think I will ever get over this. You are gone, and we just went karaoke when you invited me. I wish I would have stayed longer, I had no idea what was going on. I am so sad I never got to say goodbye.... So many years gone, I miss you Tony... See you when I get there.

You were the best Mayor I've seen in living here Bell Gardens for 40 yrs. You had a rare quality that politicians dont. That you genuinely cared about the community .You made positive improvements and corrections.That was for so many years had gone neglected. You were never out of touch, but always available and personally professional. You are appreciated loved & missed. This is truly a sad tragedy for Bell Gardens.
