Donald Ray Alexander

Beloved husband and father, Don passed at home on September 29, 2012 in Lakewood, California. He was 96 years old. Don was born in Modale, Iowa on the 4th of July. He met the woman of his dreams, Elva Davis, when he was 9 years old. He married Elva in 1938 and they celebrated 73 years of marriage just before Elva passed in 2011. Don enlisted in the Navy in 1936. When he left the Navy at the end of World War II, he pursued a carrier in Aero Space as a machinist and tool builder. He played a role in the Apollo Space project and later the Space Shuttle Project. Don is survived by his 3 sons, Gary, Gayle, Val.; 5 grandchildren, Michelle, Margret, Michael, Kathy and Ryan; and 3 great-grandchildren, Sarah, Bradley and Sean. Don was loved by his community as well as his family. Seeing him walking through the neighborhood where he and Elva lived for over 50 years is something we will all miss. Services to be announced.
