Sutherin, Eleanor Beverly

Eleanor Beverly Sutherin passed away peacefully on March 20, 2014. Her
husband Robert of 68 years and daughter Phyllis were by her side at PIH Hospice Home.

Affectionately known as "Ellie", she was a much-loved partner, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.

Eleanor Beverly Bunzl was born at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital on August 25, 1927. In 1931, she moved to a small town near Prague, Czechoslovakia where her family resided until 1939. Ellie returned to the U.S. and spent her teen years in Burbank, graduating from Burbank High School. She met Bob at Glendale Jr. College, and it was love at first sight. They were married February 23, 1946.

Ellie and Bob have lived in Whittier for 47 years. Active in several organizations, a tireless gardener and knitter, Ellie also loved to play Bridge and entertain friends and family. Before retirement, she managed the finances of several local businesses during a successful career of thirty years.

Ellie Sutherin was a loving grandmother to her two granddaughters, Jeanette and Michele and four great-grandchildren; a great lady who will be missed by all who knew her.

A Memorial Ceremony and Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, March 29, at The First Christian Church on Greenleaf in Whittier.
