Gary Dean Catron

March 8, 1956 - December 7, 2013

Gary was born in Lynwood, CA to parents John and Mary Catron of Long Beach. He was raised in Long Beach, where he attended Tincher Elementary, Hill Jr. High and Millikan High School, where he was a member of the RAM football team. Gary was an avid prankster and could always be found with a smile on his face and a ready joke. Gary was also a man that loved his hobbies and tinkering in the garage. Many an hour he could be found there with his brother working on cars and later enjoying time with friends while restoring vintage bicycles. He loved helping his great-nieces and nephew with school and scout projects from which he earned the moniker "Pinewood God" after building cars with amazing designs and incredibly detailed paint jobs.

Gary passed away December 7th after being diagnosed with cancer in November. He was preceded in death by his father, John; brother, Richard; and great-niece, Kayleigh Scott. He is survived by his mother, Mary; sister, Sharon; longtime companion, Kathleen Hinkle; nieces, Michelle Scott and Rhonda Fox; two children, Shaun and Lindsey and various other family members.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 11:00am, Long Beach Alliance Church, 3331 Palo Verde Ave, Long Beach, Ca. His interment will be at Forest Lawn, Cypress, Ca. Please sign the guestbook at www.presstelegram.com/obits.
