CASTRO, Genevieve M.
Genevieve (Gena) M. Castro, of Riverside, longtime resident of Whittier, went home to be with the Lord on August 27, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. Gena was 69 years old, and passed away peacefully at home with her soulmate, high school sweetheart by her side. Gena is survived by her husband of 52 years, Phillip Castro, and her children Steve Castro (Dominica); Yvette Carsten (Charles); Valerie Ridge (Jeff); and John Castro (Angelique). She has 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren that she adored. Gena is also survived by her sisters Laura Blanco and Cathy Garcia, as well as brother/sister in laws, Luke Castro and Rosalie Braida. She was preceeded in death by her father, Ray Verdugo, Mother Bertha Verdugo, and beloved brother Ray (Sonny) Verdugo. She raised her children in Whittier, and for many years worked at Hoover School, as well as was an award winning Realtor in both Whittier and Riverside.
Services are as follows: Viewing/Prayer Vigil at Morrow's Mortuary in Pico Rivera on September 6 at 6:00pm; Service on Friday, September 7th at 11:00 am at St. Mariana De Paredes in Pico Rivera, with burial immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery in Monterey Park.
