GEORGIE BLOCK Obituary

GEORGIE MAE BLOCK Age 69, of Fontana, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on May 31, 2011, after an 8 year battle with cancer. She was born February 10, 1942, in Warren, Ohio, to George and Ellen Bundas, and moved to Fontana when she was a child. She married her high school sweetheart, the late Ronald Duane Block in 1962, and they both lived in Fontana for 46 years. Georgie is a graduate of Fontana High School, Class of 1959. She earned her AS degree in Nursing from Chaffey College, and later received her BS in Nursing from California State University, San Bernardino in 1985. She worked for many years at Loma Linda University Community Hospital, retiring as an Administrative RN Supervisor. Georgie was an active member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church. She was constantly giving her time caring for the sick, organizing church bake sales, and making rosaries and afghans for those in need. She was active with the 4-H, Girl Scouts, Cub and Boy Scouts and school events. Georgie enjoyed needlework, camping, Laughlin slots, and traveling (especially cruises). She is survived by four children: Stephen Block of Fontana, Robert Block (Patricia Holtsclaw) of Fresno, Joshua Block of Fontana, Lucinda (Salvadore) Gutierrez of Bonsall; and two granddaughters, Victoria and Alexandria Castro of Bonsall. Viewing: Friday, June 3, 2011, 5:00-8:00 P.M. with Parastas Services and Catholic Daughters Rosary beginning at 6 P.M. at Ingold Mortuary. Funeral Liturgy: Saturday, June 4, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Fontana. Interment to follow at Green Acres Cemetery.
