Howard A. La Voy
Howard A. La Voy, of Lakewood, CA passed away on May 19, 2013 at the age of 95. He was born in Cabri, Saskatchewan, Canada on April 5, 1918. He immigrated to Long Beach, CA in 1924 with his parents, Wilford and Nell La Voy. The family settled in Bellflower where Howard worked at the local movie theatre and the family's egg business. He graduated from Excelsior High School in 1936, and then attended business college in Long Beach. He married his first wife, Virginia Watson and they had a daughter, Julie. He was drafted into the army and served during WW II, stationed in Tokyo, in the offices of General MacArthur. After the war, Howard worked in various office occupations over the course of his career. He had two more children, Patrice and Gary (Wendy) with his second wife Antoinette "Toni" Formento who he married in 1953. After retirement, Howard and Toni enjoyed traveling, the Elks lodge and spending time with family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Toni and his grandson, Anthony. He is survived by his three children; six grandchildren, Lori, Christopher, Jonathan, Emily, Matthew and David; great grandchild, Jessica; and numerous nieces and nephews. . Rosary and viewing will be held at 4pm, Thursday, May 30 with rosary at 6:30 pm. Mass to be celebrated at 1 pm, Friday, May 31 with reception to follow. All services, including interment, at All Souls Mortuary and Cemetery, 4400 Cherry Ave., Long Beach.
