Of Redlands, California, passed away on August 9, 2012, after suffering a stroke nearly 10 years ago. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Eleanor, and the loving father of their four children, Ed Borkowski, Michele Weakland, Liz White, and Bill Borkowski. He has six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is survived by his two sisters and brother, Genevieve Borkowski, Clara Palumbo, and Ed Borkowski. It was the day of their 54th wedding anniversary that he died. Joe was born in Glassport, Pennsylvania, 82 years ago where he was an outstanding student and athlete who went on to serve in the US Army. He received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. Joe continued to excel in business where he had a distinguished career in Accounting and Finance, mainly in the steel industry. A position with Kaiser Steel Corporation led to the family's move west to Southern California. Joe retired as President of Phototron Corporation. He and Eleanor were avid world travelers, and enjoyed a good round of golf with friends and family at Redlands Country Club. Joe loved to throw a good party, and guests could not leave his home with less than a full stomach, and an overdose of Franck Pourcel music. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, August 25, at The Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Redlands.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The American Heart & Stroke Association (https://donate.americanheart.org/ecommerce/asa/asa_index.jsp) or 1-888-4STROKE.
