Nancy Ellen Clarke was born in 1959 in New Richmond, Wisconsin, and
entered life eternal on April 4, 2012. She grew up in Azusa, California and attended school there, graduating from Azusa High School in 1977. Nancy earned a Bachelor of Arts in physical education and recreation from the University of La Verne in 1981, and a master's degree in reading with a reading specialist credential in 1987, from Azusa Pacific University. She taught P.E. and English at Azusa High School for thirty years. Nancy also coached volleyball and softball at AHS, and coached softball at Citrus College for four years.
Nancy is survived by her family, husband Theodore (Ted) Clarke and their two children, Ian and Hannah. She is also survived by her mother Charlene Snyder, sisters Pam Merkel (Dwight), Brenda Noriega (Randy), Wendy Snyder, and brother Jeff Snyder (Eugenia), numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Nancy was predeceased by her father, David Snyder.
Nancy was a loving and faithful wife, mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, friend, and colleague to many. She loved to laugh and was the keeper of family stories, the one who would remember events that had been forgotten by others. Nancy was a role model and positive influence at Azusa High School for thousands of students over the years in both her classes and on her teams, and for her fellow faculty members.
A celebration of life service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, Covina, on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in honor and memory of Nancy Clarke may be made to the scholarship fund for her children, Ian and Hannah, payable to Grace Lutheran Church.
