Age 62, died Friday, February 8, 2013 at his home in Castaic after his courageous battle against cancer.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 42 years, Leslie (Ernenputsch); his children, Joshua, Haylie and Russell; his siblings, Share (Sherry Ann), Steven and Thomas; five grandchildren and many close friends.
Born in Stubenville, Ohio and raised in the San Fernando Valley, California, Scott was the firstborn son of Mary Ann (Candy) and Francis (Smitty) Smith. He was a longtime resident of Arleta, California. Scott worked for Ralphs for 40 years and was extremely active in his community coaching baseball for the Panorama City American Legion and basketball and baseball for St. Genevieve High School for many years. He enjoyed sports, was an avid golfer and was very involved in his grandchildren's activities.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, February 14th, at San Fernando Mission Mortuary from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 15th, 11:00 a.m., at St. Genevieve Catholic Church. Burial at San Fernando Mission. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Scott to the National MS Society, 2440 S. Sepulveda Blvd., Suite 115, Los Angeles, CA 90064.
