Dr. Wayne Irving Halleen
Beloved husband and father~ Wayne Halleen, passed away on February 2 of cancer at home in Pasadena. He was born Oct. 11, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Wheaton College, in Wheaton, III. and his
Medical Degree from Baylor University in Houston, Texas. He married Nancy Lambert in 1955 and served as a
medical corpsman at Camp Pendleton from 1957- 1962, then moved to Santa Ana, California in 1965, where he and Nancy raised their three daughters, and were active at Trinity Presbyterian Church.
He opened his own practice and enjoyed a successful and satisfying career in obstetrics/gynecology. He loved traveling skiing, snorkeling, running, singing in the church choir, and slapstick comedy.
After Nancy passed away in 2002, Wayne renewed a longtime friendship with Lucy Guernsey, who he married in 2004. They settled in Pasadena and were actively involved in San Marino Community Church.
Wayne was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy, and his daughter, Wendy Halleen Vanderlip.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy, daughters, Heather Choco (Randy) of Sammamish, WA, Cathi VonSchimmelmann (Jerry) of Albany, OR, son-in~law Ted Vanderlip, Klamath Falls, OR, stepdaughters, Sheryl Guernsey (Doug Thomas) of Phoenix, AZ, Shannon Guernsey (Erik Ennen) of Minneapolis, MN, a sister, Laurel Wilcox, a brother, Owen Halleen, and six grandchildren.
His family remembers Wayne as a wonderful father, devoted husband, and a man of great faith, generosity and kindness.
Services will be held in the San Marino Community Church 1750 Virginia Rd. South, San Marino CA on Friday, February 7 at 11:00a.m. 626~282·4181.
Memorial gifts may be made to the SMCC Choir Music Fund.
