James Amrhein James E. Amrhein (87) was the youngest of five children born in Brooklyn, NY. He went to be with the Lord on May 22, 2011. For 56 years he was the beloved husband of Laurette who preceded him in death. He is survived by four children, Christopher, professor, UC Riverside; Michele, retired chemical engineer, Mark, geotechnical engineer and Bruce, mechanical engineer; and seven grandchildren. He served honorably with the Navy Construction Battalion Seabees in WWII in the Philippines and Japan. Amrhein served 27 years as executive director of the Masonry Institute of America and was author of ten books including "Reinforced Masonry Engineering Handbook".
