Larry E. Scott
Was born at home in Wills Point Texas to Henry and Christine Scott on March 31, 1947. He passed away on April 25, 2012, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Upland, CA) his daughter, Jansey Scott, his son-in-law John Haertle, his only grandson, Nolan Haertle, (Tustin, CA) his sister, Dianne Perkins of Morro Bay, CA and his brother Ron Scott of Mesa, AZ.
In 1966, Larry enlisted in the U. S. Army and was sent in May of that year to Fort Devens Army Base Ayer, Massachusetts where he underwent Army Security Agency training. In August, he married his high school sweetheart, Evelyn Hunt. The two eloped and were married by the chaplain at Fort Devens. He was 19, she was 17. Larry served for four years, a year of which was spent overseas in Turkey. After his service, Larry joined the utility industry where he worked for over 42 years, working his way up from an apprentice to a crew foreman. He was a member of IBEW Local 47.
A life-long Democrat, Larry never shied away from a good political debate. With a sharp wit and playful sense of humor, he loved a good joke, never mind that the joke was often on you.
When he wasn't working, Larry loved to garden, listen to country music, make videos of his grandson, and sip the latest vintage in the Wine Country with Evelyn, whom he has been married to for forty-five years.
Larry was a hard-working, devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be sorely missed by all.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, May 12 at the Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden, 1500 North College Avenue, Claremont, CA 91711 from 12:00-2:00. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the
