James McOmber (Mac) Robinson

James McOmber (Mac) Robinson, a long time Claremont resident died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 17, 2012. He was born in Harbor Springs, Michigan on August 22, 1920, son of Leroy T. Robinson, a Methodist minister, and Hazel McOmber Robinson. He grew up in Michigan, attended DePauw University for his undergraduate degree and received his PhD in organic chemistry from Indiana University. His professional life was spent as a chemist in the pharmeceutical, aerospace and health care fields.
His many interests and hobbies included camping, mountaineering, traveling, photography, tennis, motorcylcle riding, target shooting, music and earning his private pilot's license shortly before his retirement. He was active in the Clarement United Church of Christ for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Barbara. He is survived by his second wife, Lyn Krinsky; sons James M. Robinson, Jr. (Victoria), and Thomas B. Robinson (Julie Merrill); daughters Katherine R. Short (Gene), and Carol Jane Robinson (Bill Bromenschenkel); eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Manor Hall at Claremont Manor, 650 W. Harrison, Sunday, May 27, 2012 at 2:00 pm.
