I had the great prevlidge of having Norma as my Mother-in-Law and I couldn't have picked a greater lady as a role model. She was the epitome of a gracious homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She welcomed me into the MacDougall clan with open arms and a loving heart. She gave me as a present at my bridal shower a file of all her beloved and cherished favorite recipes, which I still have to this day and hold very dear.
I remember her a such a sweet, kind, loving, and honest person with never a harsh word to say about anyone. Always so soft spoken and beatuiful inside and out. Her whold world consisted of her family and friends and when you were in her home that was abundantly evident by all the pictures and mememtos displayed about the house.
She was amazing to me in that she could do it all, cook, sew, knit, crochet, embroider, recover furniture, paint, just whatever she set her mind to do, she could accomplish well.
We have kept in touch over the years and she never forgot to send me a Birthday or Christmas card every year. She dearly loved her grandchildren as well and took such pride in all their accomplishments.
You were my "Grandma Angel" too and I remember the day she first called Kelly her "Sweet Little Angel" and shortly after that Kelly started calling her "Grandma Angel". What a terrific memory I shall hold in my heart forever. She was very much loved and shall be missed more than mere words can express. I will be looking for your sweet face in heaven one day soon. All my Love to you Norma!

I remember Norma when I was a teenager and she married the boy across the street from me (Bill MacDougall) on Linden Avenue in Long Beach. When they bought the house in Cal Heights, I visited them there and continued my visits after Mac passed away. She was a great lady and will be missed.

Lynn's mom (Norma) was a true mom and wife, always putting her family first. She was organized and detailed, always the first to get her Christmas cards out. I asked for a recipe once (Applesauce Spice Cake) and she quickly wrote it out and gave it to me. Seems where ever there was a garage sale Norma and her husband Mac were there (I know they came to a couple of mine!) Their home is filled with the treasures they both loved collecting. My memories of Norma go back to elementary school when I would go to her house, which was across the street from Longfellow) with Lynn for lunch. Years later Norma graciously allowed me to have my bridal shower in her home and Lynn was my maid of honor when I got married in 1972. Lynn and I have remained close friends and I guess our stories of caring for our own aging mothers brought our lives around full circle these past few years. Lynn, in the tradition of her mother, was a loving caregiver. And like her mother, Lynn would do anything for her. Her coming back down to Long Beach to care for her mom several times a year allowed us, and her friends and family, to be together again back in her childhood home where we reminisced about our younger days and talked and laughed about our daily struggles and joys with life in general. As usual Norma found a way to bring people together and I know she loved having her friends and family around her. Norma was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. Lynn will go back to a more normal life in Washington knowing she did right by her mom, knowing she received and gave that love back to her like nobody else could. Rest in peace Norma MacDougall.
