JANET EILEEN GNECKOW THOMPSON
Janet went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 12, 2013. She was the first of two children born to Gerald and Thelma Garver in Decatur, IL on May 3, 1934.
She married Donald Wayne Gneckow on September 6, 1953. She was a devoted wife, homemaker and mother to her three children while Don served in the Navy during the
. They moved to Canoga Park, CA in 1962 where they lived until Don's death in 1994.
She found love again and married Warren Thompson in 2003. They enjoyed traveling all over the world as well as frequent visits to both sets of children until she lost her hard-fought 11 year battle with multiple myeloma. He was a wonderful support to her during those years.
She is survived by her husband, Warren Thompson; her brother, Don Garver (Brenda); her children, Cindi Salazar (Larry), Doug Gneckow (Debi), Rod Gneckow (Ruthy), and Steve Gneckow (Cheryl); her grandchildren, Brianna, Benjamin, and Carrie Gneckow, and Cayla Salazar; her step-grandchildren, Dawn Zitterow Kalapp, Trevor Zitterow (Stacey), Erick Johnson (Tanya), Jennifer Johnson, Vanessa, Paola and Nicole Moreno; and numerous great grandchildren. She also was loved by Warren's three children, Scott (Elisabeth), Brett and Kerry. Scott's children are Trevor, Scott and Nate. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her parents; grandson, Shawn Gneckow; and step-grandson, Buddy Kalapp.
A Memorial Service will be held at West Hills Church, 7475 Fallbrook Ave., 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 19th. A celebration of her life will immediately follow.
