Virginia L. (Jinny) King passed away peacefully December 10, 2012 after 92 years, having blessed those around her with her humor, caring nature and love. Born in 1920 to Marguerite and Robert Vining, Jinny grew up in Kankakee, IL, and married Don R. King, MD, in Chicago in 1942. Jinny lived in Long Beach, CA for much of her life, and received her degree in nursing after her children were "launched." She was an accomplished sculptor, potter, and weaver. She also held an abiding Christian faith. Jinny was widowed in 1980, and later joined family in Sun City, AZ and Rochester, NY. She returned to CA in 2008 and memories of family camping and skiing in the Sierra. She is survived by her three children, daughter, Dale L. Phelps (Gualala, CA); sons, Don R. King (Irvine, CA) and Stephen King (Seattle, WA); five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family plans a private summer celebration of Jinny's life in her beloved Sierra, where she always found her inspiration and peace. Please sign the guestbook at www.presstelegram.com/obits.
