Louise Maureen Lakoff
Louise Maureen Lakoff, of Long Beach, Ca passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her children on Wednesday, July 30, 2014.
Born Louise Tripeny on October 10, 1935 in Casper, Wyoming, Louise's family moved to Long Beach in the 1940's where her father built a thriving real estate business. Louise attended Lowell Elementary and Roger's Middle School where her talent for singing was discovered and encouraged. After graduating from Wilson High School Louise attended
where she earned degrees in teaching and music. While at UCLA Louise joined the Delta Gamma House where she developed lifelong relationships with many of her DG sisters and remained an actively involved alumnus.
Louise and her husband, Bill, had five children all born and raised in Long Beach. It was with Bill, an avid sailor, that Louise first visited Catalina. The island held a special place in her heart. Louise spent a month each year in Avalon and all her children consider Two Harbors to be an almost second home in the summer. Louise was an avid golfer, a prolific letter writer, a woman of deep faith and strength. She was considered a close friend by many and will be deeply missed.
Louise is survived by her five children, William Lakoff, Linda Callahan, Peter Lakoff, Nancy Lusk and Dean Lakoff and her four granddaughters, Cuyler Lusk, Catalina Lusk, Frankie Louise Callahan and Loa Lakoff.
A Memorial Service will be held at Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church, 5100 E Broadway, Long Beach, CA at 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 16, 2014.
