John Robert DeBraal, 79, a resident of Bayard, N.M., entered eternal rest Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at his residence. He was born Sept. 17, 1933, in Santa Rita, N.M., to Cornelius J. DeBraal and Eva D. Williams. He retired after 37 years from AT&T. He was a member of Santa Rita Masonic Lodge #44 for 46 years. He was a member of G.C. Scottish Rite. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Air Force. He was a very charitable man and will be missed. He is survived by one son, John DeBraal, of Belen, N.M.; one daughter, Cheryl Schwabe, of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; five grandchildren: Carol Norris, Tim Jones, Jodie Jones, Kelly Lucero and John Robert DeB raal III; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one brother, James D. DeBraal, and wife, Sharon, of Las Cruces, N.M.; and one sister, Jane E. Mitchell, of Silver City. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joann DeBraal; one daughter, Roberta DeBraal; and one brother, William E. DeBraal. A graveside service will be celebrated on Saturday, March 2, at Memory Lane cemetery at 2 p.m. with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to G. C. Masonic Relief Fund C/O P.O. Box 36 Hurley, NM 88043. Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory. Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels and Crematory, 575-537-0777.
