Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Guadalupe G. Ortiz, 86, of Salem died Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Mountain View Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 6, 1928, in Durango, Durango, Mexico, to Serapio and Guadalupe Perez Garcia. Mrs. Ortiz was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church. Those left to mourn her passing include her loving husband, Santiago P. Ortiz, of the family home; four daughters, Silvia Ortiz Garcia of Salem, Cecilia Ortiz and Gabriella O. Ortiz, both of Las Cruces, and Claudia O. Stimmel of Atlanta, Georgia. Other survivors include 17 grandchildren, Maribel Martinez, Antonio Juarez Jr., Rosa Carrasco, Silvia Florentino, Sandra, Fernando Jr., Santiago, Adriana, Erica, Mariah, Lorena and Quinten Ortiz, Andrew and Alessandra Mijarez, C-Mac, William, and Henry Stimmel; 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Fernando Ortiz and a brother, Santiago Garcia. Visitation for Mrs. Ortiz will begin at 6 p.m. today, May 13, 2014, in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road, where the prayer vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. Family and Friends will join together to celebrate the funeral Mass at 1 p.m.Wednesday, May 14, 2014, in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 S. Espina. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho, where she will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Santiago and Herman Ortiz, C-Mac and Carl Stimmel, Andrew Mijarez and Antonio Juarez Jr. Honorary bearers will be Quinten Ortiz, William and Henry Stimmel. Claudia, Carl, and boys - Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family right now as you mourn your beloved mother. I know how much you dearly loved her and can only imagine how hard this is for you. I'm so thankful you were able to be with her.
