On September 17, 2013, Alfred Diaz, Jr., went to be with our Lord and Savior. He was born on May 17, 1963 in Las Cruces, N.M. Alfred grew up in Las Cruces and attended University Hills Elementary, and Lynn Middle School where he was in football and choir. In 1982, he graduated from Las Cruces High School. Alfred was an outstanding person as well as exceptional citizen in our community and received awards such as Outstanding Service Award from District Superintendent; Outstanding Student Citizen Award from the State Department; Work Study Service Award from the Principal; Outstanding Community Service Award from Mayor Miyagishima. Our community will greatly miss Alfred. Alfred Jr. was a lifelong member of the Assembly of God church. He toured with "Ambassadors for Christ" traveling group; served in prison ministry at SWNM Correctional Facility, county jail, and juvenile detention center; served faithfully at the Las Cruces Rescue Mission chapel ministry; and led boys to Christ during his service as Royal Ranger Commander. Alfred worked in the culinary industry at several community establishments in Las Cruces, and served as Training Supervisor as well as other manager positions. Alfred was a fun, loving, outgoing, and friendly person who loved to make people laugh. Young kids loved to see his magic tricks. He was well liked by so many. He had a great love for Christ and a love for sharing Christ with others. He had a compassionate heart for helping those who were in need. Alfred loved to sing and listen to his music. His favorite songs were "When We All Get To Heaven" and "Amazing Grace." We will miss Alfred dearly, but we know he is now healthy and happy as he walks alongside His Savior whom he devoted his life to. Alfred is survived by his mother, Bernice Diaz; siblings: brother, Cedrick Diaz (Yolanda); three sisters, Rhoda Pacillas (Rudy); Myrna Diaz (Hector); and Karen Bobo (Charles).
