Christine Apodaca

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, daughter, companion, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Christine A. Apodaca, 48, of Las Cruces, on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. She was born to Lorenzo S. and Rosa A. Apodaca on Nov. 21, 1964 in Las Cruces. Christine was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church. Those left to mourn her passing include two sons, Joey Apodaca and Eddie Leon; a daughter, Cynthia Leon, all of Las Cruces; her father, Lorenzo S. Apodaca of Doña Ana; companion, Tony Hernandez of Las Cruces; a stepson, James Smith, also Las Cruces; five brothers, Ernie and David Apodaca both of Las Cruces, Freddie and Lorenzo Apodaca of Doña Ana and Ray Apodaca of Baldwin Park, Calif.; seven sisters, Rachel Blacklock of Las Cruces, Sally Atencio of Henderson, Nev., Rosemary Estrada and Priscilla Apodaca both of El Monte, Calif., Maggie Ragzo of La Puente, Calif., Lupe Businger of Lufkin, Texas, and Angie Galleta of Fontana, Calif. Other survivors include four grandchildren, Raymond and Marcus Leon, Xavier Tapia and Dominic Portillo as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by his mother; and a brother, Freddie Apodaca. Visitation for Christine will be held Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 at 5 p.m. in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road where the prayer vigil is scheduled for 6 p.m. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the memorial mass at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012 in Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church, 5525 Cristo Rey in Doña Ana with Rev. Miguel Macaya officiating. The rite of committal and inurnment will follow in the Doña Ana Cemetery where she will lay to rest.
