Clemente Carbajal

Clemente "Clem" Carbajal, 79, of Las Cruces, N.M., entered eternal life on Friday, March 28, 2014. He was born in La Mesa, N.M., on Oct. 17, 1934, to Guillermo and Belen Madrid Carbajal. Clemente proudly served his country as a seaman in the U.S. Navy. During his time in the Navy, he was sent on deployment (CVA-12) on the USS HORNET. After the Navy, he became a truck driver traveling the nation delivering many products. Once retired, he moved back to New Mexico. Clem loved spending most of his time at the Munson Center in Las Cruces, where he met his best friend, Chuy, and many other good friends. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. Clemente was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jesus Carabajal; sisters, Celia Lucero and Cruz Garcia. Clemente is survived by his sister, Soledad Gomez, and his beloved daughters, nieces, nephews, cousins and their children. A memorial service will be held at the Judeo-Christian Israel Alliance, 1122 N. 6th St. Las Cruces, at 6 p.m.Thursday, April 3, 2014, officiated by the Rev. Fred Hofeldt. A graveside service will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, Texas, on Friday, April 4, 2014, at 10 a.m. Serving as casket bearers will be Jesus "Chuy" Cano, Felix Valencia, Crystal Carabajal, Jabin Apodaca, Jonathon Ortega and Ryan Lujan.
