Damian Roman

Damian "Dee" James Roman, 18, of Las Cruces entered eternal life to be with his heavenly Father, Saturday, March 2, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Oct. 28, 1994 in Las Cruces to Eugene Roman and Cynthia Alvarez. "Dee," as he was fondly known to his family and friends, loved watching the Dallas Cowboys games; hearing Spanish music; going to the park and for walks in the four points area. His favorite color was yellow and watching Elmo's World. He was a member of the Catholic Church. Those left to mourn his passing include his mother Cynthia Morales and husband Juan of the family home; his maternal grandmother, Helen Torres and husband Hildo; his father, Eugene Roman II and wife Melissa; three brothers, Eugene III, Kaiden and Damien Roman; three sisters, Krista Roman, Mariah Baeza and Eryka Morales; and four stepsisters, Eliza, Marley, Valencia and Kaylan Morales. Other survivors include his maternal grandfather, Raymond Alvarez and wife Yolanda; paternal grandparents, Eugenio and Juana Roman; maternal great-grandmother, Elvira Alvarez; his uncles and aunts, Priscilla and Ray Ramirez, Mary Ann and Tony Carnero, Crystal and Josh Alvarez, Eddie, Orlando and Jessica Roman, Carlos and Dolores Morales, Raymundo and Socorro Morales, Rick and Jennifer Morales, Marco and Katie Morales, Jose and Claudia Morales, Luis and Carla Morales; and numerous cousins who spent so much time with him, Juan Carlos, Priscilla, Angelina, Rayanne, Miranda, Alexis, Sunny Ray, Anthony, Briana, Edward, Danielle, Andrew, Missy, Becca Lou, Angelique, Mia, Angel and Ms. Karly; his homeboys from Tortugas, Eugene Serna, Gúero Aleman, Tony Guzman, David Torres; and special aunts, Celia Perez and Erlinda Flores. He was preceded in death by his great maternal great-grandparents, Atenojenes and Juanita Acosta; cousins, Romulo Guzman, Mike Gamboa, Manuel, Lupe, Larry and Henry Acosta; aunts, Missy Roman, Dora Sanchez and Sara Gamboa.; and his homie, Lonnie Mirabal. A prayer vigil was held Thursday, March 7, 2013 in Baca's Chapel of Prayers, 300 E. Boutz Road. Family and Friends will join together to celebrate the funeral mass on Friday (today), March 8, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the Basilica of San Albino, 2070 Calle Principal in Mesilla with Rev. Richard Catanach officiating. The rite of committal and interment will follow in the Tortugas Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Eugene II and Eugene Roman III, David Torres and Hildo Torres. Honorary bearers will be Luis Morales, Ray Ramirez, Tony Carnero, Andrew Flores, Ruben Arzabal Jr., Josh Baeza and Isela Alvillar.
